Whippoorwill's Song

I remember one day a few years back, my dad came home from work. He told me that he had met this older couple that was staying at Douthat for a few days. When he was talking to them, they mentioned that they had been coming to this park for many years just to sit together and listen to the Whippoorwills sing throughout evening. They would always sit on that bench and watch the setting sun's reflection glow on the ripples of the water. They loved how quiet Douthat evenings were except for the unique call of these birds.

Quite romantic.

I always think about that couple every time I pass that bench and tree.
